But I'm back. After a short hiatus, the Randomblogger has returned with a whole bunch of news to discuss. I've got comic news, entertainment news, sports stuff to talk about. This post is full of everything. So without further adieu, let the Random Blog begin.
COMICS
So the big news of the comic world is that Joe Quesada has stepped down as Editor in Chief of Marvel comics, with the role now belonging to Axel Alonso. Now, I don't know much about Axel, but he seems quite capable in taking over the job. Quesada now goes as Chief Creative Officer. Hopefully, nothing changes that much with the change in EiCs.
Review
So, I know that I've been behind on reviews, but that is because the comics that I get have been delayed from Marvel's move. However, I do have one comic to review today and that would be Ultimate Comics Spider-man #151.
The comic goes back and forth between Issue #1, sometime in between that, and the present day. We open with Black Cat ready to snipe Wilson Fisk aka the Kingpin but Mysterio gets to him first, as seen in issue #1. Later, Cat and Mysterio talk when Mysterio catches her sneaking in his new office. Mysterio offers her a job but all Cat is worried about is whatever is in the safe. Mysterio chases her out and looks into the safe and sees what we can't, leaving it as a cliffhanger. Back in the present day, we see Peter, Johnny, and Bobby talking at lunch about Gwen, who still hasn't returned. Lana, aka one of the Bombshells, asks if she can eat with them. Pete agrees and they trio talk to her. Bobby asks her out and Lana seems less than thrilled by the offer. Aunt May calls Gwen and leaves her a heartfelt message which Gwen hears, seeing that she is outside May's car. The two talk about all that's gone on and Gwen agrees to come back home. Just as she does that, Iron Man appears, asking for Peter.
This issue is okay, not good but not bad. Save from a brief appearance in #150, Peter has not been in costume since the end of the Chameleon arc which is okay I guess. I know that Bendis likes Peter's out of costume life as well as his costumed one, but it just seems like it's been a while since some action happened. Hopefully, with Iron Man coming to train Peter, next issue will be more action packed. I liked the story so far, with Mysterio possibly playing into Death of Spider-man and Lana as the new candidate as Peter's girlfriend. However, I was less than amazed by Sara Pichelli's art this month. I enjoyed her work in #149 and the small amount of work she did in #150, but this issue just seemed off for some reason. Her normal people like Pete, Lana, and Gwen were pretty good while her Black Cat and Mysterio were just terrible. Hopefully her art is better next issue.
Story- 4/5

ENTERTAINMENT
So, one of my favorite shows came back this week. That show was V and the first episode of season 2 was phenomenal. Titled "Red Rain", this episode had it all. The red sky was "explained" and was explained again, we see the Fifth Column expand a little bit, and we get to see Laura Vandervoort, whom is amazing. However, the actor I was most excited to see was Bret Harrison as Dr. Sydney Miller. I loved Bret on the sadly short lived TV show Reaper and I was thrilled when he was signed to appear on V. I'll give Red Rain a solid A-.
In other kinda selfish entertainment news, Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal broke up. I note this because my celebrity crush and I will always wish to be with her. Selfish, I know, but I just wanted to say that.
SPORTS
NFL playoffs start tomorrow and I am ready for some playoff action. Seeing as my Cavs suck and I don't really like baseball, football is the only thing I have to look forward to. My predictions for action this weekend are as follow:
Indi beats down the Jets
Baltimore squeaks past Kansas Cit
New Orleans utterly destroys Seattle
Green Bay shocks Philadelphia
Super Bowl prediction: Pats vs. Atlanta with the Pats winning.
That's all for now, but now that the holidays are over, I will try to update my blog more often. Hopefully more people start to read it, but I doubt it.
Peace out.
