I Blame The Holidays

So my last two posts that I planned on doing were delayed until today due to the holidays and work.  But nevertheless, I will discuss "The Death of Spiderman", "Three", and "Fear Itself" and the new Marvel solicitations that came out Wednesday. And away we go...

Fear Itself
The big event that is affecting all of Marvel this year is Fear Itself (or just Fear). The writer is going to be Matt Fraction and the illustrator will be the kick-butt Stuart Immonen.  The premise of the arc is still unknown besides that there will be a new God of Fear introduced.  The only reason I would pick up this event is because of Mr. Immonen's art, which always blows my socks off.

Three
The Fantastic Four will be four no more.  Soon, one will die and there will be Three.  There has been a lot of speculation on who is going to die.  One recent picture shows the Thing alive and kicking, but that might be a red herring.  Jonathan Hickman has been working on this for a long time and it is one of Marvel's highest secrets right now.  The only other hero in on this arc seems to be Spider-man, who will be a possible replacement for whoever dies, shown by this picture by Marcos Martin:

Who do I think is going to kick the bucket? Well, I believe that Reed Richards, Mr. Fantastic, is going to die. With Ben Grimm on the Fear Itself promo and Susan Storm just "dying" recently, it leaves either Reed or Johnny Storm to be the unfortunate one.  I just don't think that many people would be upset if Johnny dies so I go with Reed.

The Death of Spider-man
Ah, DOS. The arc that I will be getting and scrutinizing deeply.  Ultimate [Comics] Spider-man has been a homerun ever since Bagley left and now that he is coming back, I'm kinda concerned.  But I already addressed that.  Do I think that Spidey is going to die? No, but I believe that he is going to "kill" his web-head alter ego just for a bit with his clone Spider-girl/woman taking his place. Eventually, Pete will realize how much he misses his webs and return to the costume.  If that is not what happens and he actually does die, I will drop the book.  Yes, if Ult. Spidey dies, I will drop the book that got me into comics in the first place.

Solicts time!  March is shaping up to be an interesting month for my pull list. The definites on my list are:
  • Ultimate Comics Spider-man #155
  • Ultimate Comics Spider-man #156
  • Avengers #11
  • The Amazing Spider-man #656
  • The Amazing Spider-man #657
  • X-Men #9
And the maybes on my list are:
  • Venom #1
  • Ultimate Comics Avengers vs. New Ultimates #2 (why such a long title?)
  • New Avengers #10
  • Black Panther: The Man Without Fear #516
For the full list of Marvel solicts, go to http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=29999.

So that's that. I'll be taking a break til after Christmas, depending on the news.

And I heard him exclaim as he rode out of sight "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!"

Happy Holidays,

Bagley and Other Junk

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

For those who don't know, Mark Bagley is returning to Ultimate Comics Spider-man for the "Death of Spider-man" arc.  If you cannot tell, I am not  very happy about this news.  Bagley is a so-so artist who, for some reason, has a lot of devoted fans.  I am not one of them. I started reading Ultimate Spider-man at the end of Bagley's run and thought it was okay. Then, when Stuart Immonen came on the book, I realized that Bagley was just a so-so artist.  Then, when David Lafuente joined up, I forgot who Bagley was. Lafuente is now my number two favorite artist behind Marcos Martin.  When I heard that Sara Pichelli was joining the book, I was okay with that, even though Lafuente is definitely better.  Then came this news.  I may not read the Death of Spiderman arc because of Bags work. His work looked like $#!% over at DC and I doubt it will look good over at the Ultimate Universe.

Anywho, Week 15 of the NFL ended and it was an interesting week filled with upsets and surprises. Brett Favre played his last game (maybe), teams that should have won lost (Browns), teams that should have won won (Pats) and everything in between. The two games coming up on Thursday (Panthers @ Steelers) and Saturday aka Christmas (Dallas @ Arizona) are both stinker games but the Monday Night game is great; New Orleans @ Atlanta. That is a fantastic game that I will watch all of.  That is, if I survive going to the Browns game versus the Ravens.  Its gonna be a cold one.  If I have Twitter up by then, I'll Tweet some deets about the game.

RandomBlog News Briefs
  • The Dallas Mavericks beat the Miami Heat last night, which makes me so very happy.  As a Lebron-hater, I can't wait to see Kobe spank the Heat on Christmas Day.
  • Dawn Ostroff will be stepping down as Entertainment President at the CW.  My only question is this: Couldn't you have done this sooner and not screwed up Smallville?  Thanks Dawn for leaving after my favorite show is ending.
  • Christmas is only 3 days away. Blah
  • There was an eclipse last night?
  • A Christmas Story vs. Christmas Vacation. Who wins? Answer: Tie
  • Four things I'm looking forward to after Christmas
    1. New Smallville
    2. New Tosh.O
    3. Streetlight Manifesto concert that I will hopefully going to
    4. B-day

Comic Thursday

I dub this Thursday, and every Thursday on Random Blog, COMIC THURSDAY!!!  I will be reviewing any comics that I get the day before.  This week, I will be reviewing two comics:
Amazing Spider-man #650

and
New Avengers #7

Amazing Spider-man #650
This is the better of the two comics I got yesterday.  Dan Slott is proving to be an awesome solo writer for the book and the art by Humberto Ramos is amazing.  They showcased Spidey's first new costume in this issue and I must say that it is pretty cool.  The suit allows Spidey to bend sound and light, making him invisible to the naked eye.  The next issue, the last of this arc, is shaping up to be an awesome fight between Spidey, the Kingpin, Black Cat (who was looking fine in this issue), and the Hobgoblin.  Ramos is definitely moving towards being one of my favorite artists.  When he was first announced as being on the book, I was lukewarm at best.  Now, I can't wait for his finale for this arc and his next arc to come out.

New Avengers #7
New Avengers #7 was a decent issue, but for some reason it was missing something.  True, it just ended a epic first arc and a filler was needed.  But this comic lacked something, something that I can't put my finger on.  Maybe it was the way Brian Michael Bendis (my favorite writer) wrote this issue.  I know for a fact that it was NOT Stuart Immonen's art.  Beautiful as always.  Too bad he'll be leaving the book in a few issues.  I have to say, though, having Squirrel Girl as the nanny is a brillant idea and I comend Bendis on the choice.  I can't wait for the now expected Squirrel Girl issue where she and Jarvis team up to keep the mansion safe.  That said, I'll continue to pick up New Avengers, but right now it is on the bubble of being cut.

Next Week:

Black Panther: Man Without Fear (possibly)

Second Post Ever

Soooooooo, for my second ever post, I will be discussing a few different topics from sports to comics. Don't like it, too bad.

Brett Favre ended his game streak at 297. That is the most impressive streak in any sport.  I can't believe that this guy went through all different kinds of stuff from his father dying, breaking ribs, getting concussions and still continued.  That man deserves the title as the iron man of the century. I honestly doubt if anyone will ever break this record and I really don't want anyone to. Brett is one of my favorite players of all time and I don't care if he may/may not have sent pictures of his uhhh...."junk"...... to someone. The man is one of the top 5 QBs of all time.

Week 14 of the NFL ended last nite, and was it an interesting week.  From the Metrodome collapsing to the Pats destroying the Bears in a flipping blizzard to the thriller in Houston last nite.  But I want to talk about my hometown Brownies and Jake Delhomme.  Two words: HE SUCKS.  Delhommey cannot complete a pass to save his life and every time he drops back, I fear for my life.  They need to get Seneca or Colt (when he's healthy) in there pronto.  Either that, or the Mangenius and Daboll will be looking for new jobs during the offseason.

Now, a little comic book stuff.  Today, Marvel released a new Spider-man costume, drawn by one of my personal favorite artists Marcos Martin. Here is the picture:
From http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=29883
This new costume is okay, but its not as cool as I thought it would be.  The Humberto Ramos costume is just a tad cooler, but I'll wait until February to give my full like/dislike on it.

Also, it is now official: Jon Favreau will not direct Iron Man 3.  I've never seen the Iron Man movies, but I hear that they are really good. How much of that is Favreau's directing, I don't know. But with the Avengers movie coming soon, hopefully this won't delaly it.

Tomorrow, I will (hopefully) review whatever comics I get from my local comic book store. The review won't come til later in the night, due to work. And, I'm also working on getting a Twitter account for the blog. Maybe. We'll see what happens.

10 days of X-mas shopping left.

First Ever Post

Hola,
I am the RandomBlogger and this is something new I am trying out. I have never blogged before but I decided to do it to get some things off my chest and talk about, well, everything. Whatever is going on in the world, I will try to discuss it in this blog.

Now a little about me, the RandomBlogger. I am a huge New England Patriots fan but I'm also a Cleveland Browns fan, seeing as I live in a Cleveland suburb. I am also a huge comic book junkie, so I will be raving about certain comic books from time to time.  If you ever want to discuss anything with me, let me know and I will.

Now, I know that a lot of people will not read this. Heck, Im not expecting ANYONE to read this and like it. But I don't care.

So now, I, the RandomBlogger, will close my first entry and go to my second.......
